I believe the UDAI should continue to be reset on domain transfer, so that any disgruntled designer, reseller or 3rd party who knew the old UDAI cannot undo the transfer. Transfer of a domain should represent a "new start".
I disagree that the UDAI should expire after 30 days. A registrant should be able to leave a registrar without necessitating additional support.
I would however encourage .nz to adopt the simplified wording of "authorisation code" to minimise support effort for registrars supporting multiple suffixes. Many customers interchange their use in any case.
