The Institute of IT Professionals NZ Inc remains neutral on most matters related to this consultation.
However we would like to strongly support the change that enables “Those with a unique third level domain name that was registered between 9am 30 May 2012 and 12.30pm on 11 October 2013 (and which has been continuously registered)” to be eligible to register/reserve the corresponding second level domain.
However we would like to see this extended further, with the provision of conflicted names for this time period as well and the provision of preferential registration for those registering a 3LD after 12.30pm on 11 October 2013 and up until 2LDs become available (but without the conflicted names provision).
We are happy to discuss this directly with the DNC or InternetNZ if you would like further rationale for this policy change.
