With the approaching implementation of Internationalised Domain Names, a step such as this to aid the prevention of spoofing at any level is desirable.

However in general terms, people that fall victim to phishing attacks lack the technical nous to successfully parse a URL to inspect the domain name, and based on that .bank.nz has little value.

So whilst I support the application, I also believe any site using .bank.nz should also be required by the New Zealand Bankers' Association to use
Extended Validation SSL Certificates, which enforces the “green address bar”, a feature that browsers already have, or are planning to support.
