Registrar Selection

Sorry, you are unable to transfer your domain name to another registrar through this site.  The DNC registrar selection process came to an end at 5.00pm on Wednesday 3 September 2003.

You are able to transfer your domain name between registrars at any time.  To do so, you need to do the following things:
  1. Find out who your existing registrar is.  You can find this out using the "domain search" function on the left menu bar of this site.  You need to enter the first part your domain name (eg the dnc part of dnc.org.nz) and set the right extension (.co, or .net, or .org etc) in the ".nz 2LD" pull-down menu before clicking on the green arrow.
  2. A record will be displayed, including details of your registrar and how to contact them.
  3. Contact your registrar and work through them to obtain a UDAI.  (A UDAI is an eight digit code made up of numbers and letters, which you need as part of the transfer process.)
  4. Once you have got your UDAI, go to http://dnc.org.nz/story/30056-28-1.html to view the list of authorised registrars, and find a registrar you would like to transfer your domain name to.
  5. Contact your chosen registrar and find out from them how to go about arranging for your domain name to be transferred to them.  You should check to see if they have any charges for accepting a transfer, and whether they have any special terms and conditions for registering your name.
